Sougia village in the south-west of Crete retained its traditionality, on the contrary to most places in Crete, although mass tourism started visiting the island. It is 78km away from Chania airport, but the roads are well made, so transport will be enjoyable. It is still a peaceful region, off the beaten track, with a long crystal clean beach, plenty of small hotels and astounding taverns.
